Miguel arrived in Milton Keynes as a free agent on transfer deadline day in August 2008 having spent the 2007/08 season with Spanish Second Division side Hercules CF.
A tall, powerful central defender, Llera began his career in 1998 with Primera Liga side Recreativo before joining CD San Fernando in 2000. After one season in the Spanish third division, Miguel won a move to second division side Alicante CF where he spent three successful seasons.
In 2005, Miguel moved to Gimnastic and helped the Tarragona side win promotion to the Primera Liga in his first season. He went on to make 12 appearances and score two goals in the Spanish top flight before returning to the city of Alicante, this time with Hercules, at the beginning of last season.
Llera made 18 appearances and scored one goal in his final season in Spain, helping Hercules to a sixth-placed finish in the Spanish second division.
